As part of the key values and on-going recruitment strategy at High Force Research Ltd, September has seen the start of two new apprentices within the company.
Luke Taylor and Lucy Beeston have joined the team as Degree Apprentices working within the manufacturing and production team and they have both made flying starts to their training.
They are undertaking a four-year Degree Apprenticeship in Laboratory Science through Manchester Metropolitan University and will graduate with a BSc (Hons) in Chemical Science. Luke and Lucy have already completed their university on-site induction and first remote lectures. They will be studying for their qualification alongside working full-time, where they will gain the hands-on training and development.
James Sinclair, Team Leader, commented:
‘Both Luke and Lucy have had a very positive first month and are already finding their feet, embracing their training and already undertaking practical tasks on their own. It’s great to have them on-board.’
Luke completed a BSc foundation in Clinical Sciences after completing his A-levels while Lucy completed the first year of a degree in Chemistry; both have chosen to continue with their studies via the apprenticeship route, allowing them to develop their practical skills and knowledge while working within a life sciences company.
At their recent one-month review, they were asked how they are settling in. Luke commented: “I am really enjoying my apprenticeship so far not only because of the balance of practical experience and academic learning, but also the working environment itself provides support I do not feel you would get by simply going to University via the conventional route”. And Lucy said: ‘I am thoroughly enjoying learning on the job, it gives you a huge advantage when you study the theory as you have already seen the content put into practice’.
Jane Klotz, HR Manager quotes:
‘Training and development is very much a core value at High Force Research, and we are delighted to welcome Luke and Lucy into the team. We wish them every success as they start their careers and training with us.’
