Reflecting on Success: North East Women in Life Science Networking Event on International Women’s Day 2024
As the world celebrates International Women’s Day 2024, we take a moment to reflect on the impactful North East Women in Life Science Networking Event, held exactly one month ago. Hosted by High Force Research Ltd in partnership with CY Partners, this event, held at the fantastic One Strawberry Place, Newcastle upon Tyne, brought together around 120 professionals, enthusiasts, and students in the field of life sciences, providing a platform for collaboration, mentorship, and empowerment.
The highlight of the event was the inspiring keynote speeches delivered by three guest speakers, who shared their remarkable career journeys and insights into overcoming adversities. Their stories resonated deeply with attendees, offering inspiration and motivation to navigate challenges and pursue excellence in their own careers.
Among the distinguished guest speakers were Helen Nicol, Project Manager from Leica Biosystems, Dr Nathalie Huther, Associate Vice President Business Development (CMC) from Sai Life Sciences and Dr Aisha Bismallah, Leverhulme Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of York, who captivated the audience with their compelling narratives of resilience, determination, and triumph in the face of obstacles. Their experiences served as powerful reminders of the importance of perseverance and self-belief in achieving success, regardless of gender or background.
In addition to the enlightening keynote sessions, the event also celebrated the achievements of young researchers through the Poster Prize competition. Winners were selected based on the quality and innovation of their research posters, showcasing the diverse talent and expertise within the life sciences community. Congratulations to Dimitra Valsami and Katie Gilmour for their winning entry!
