Nucleosides & Nucleotides
The Building Blocks of Life
Services I Technical Expertise
Nucleosides and nucleotides are the building blocks of DNA and RNA and play a pivotal role in DNA replication, transcription and translation, whilst their chemistry constitutes a vibrant field of research for both synthetic and biological chemists.
Antiviral Drugs

Anticancer Drugs

They remain one of the most fruitful drug classes, with nucleosides providing keys structural components for about 50% of antiviral drugs and 20% of anticancer drugs used in the UK.
High Force Research have built a depth of knowledge in this sector, with more than 15 years of experience in the synthesis and purification of a wide range of chemically modified nucleosides and nucleotides. Examples of modifications to the functionality of the sugar and/or base include, halogens, alkynes, amines, phosphoramidities and various protecting groups. These transformations have been carried out on a variety of scales, from milligrams to hundreds of grams, in order to afford high purity and high value material.
An example of our expertise in this area is from the scalable synthesis of iodinated nucleoside Guanine. This process has been conducted over several steps and also includes the two-step synthesis of the anomerically pure -chloro sugar intermediate from 2-deoxy-D-ribose.
High Force Research continues to be active and at the forefront of chemical development in this area, offering a flexible service to work on route design and/or custom synthesis on either a fee for service or collaborative risk sharing basis in order to support your research needs.
