Graduate Manufacturing Chemist
High Force Research is a contract research and development company based in Bowburn, Durham. An opportunity is available at our Bowburn site to for a Graduate Manufacturing Chemist working with a world class team within our on-site laboratories.
Due to growth within the business and an increase in demand for several products manufactured by HFR, your primary responsibility in the short term will be to assist experienced chemists in the synthesis and purification of complex organic molecules. You will learn advanced techniques used in the synthesis and manufacture of novel organic materials, gain practical knowledge of analytical techniques such as HPLC and NMR and be introduced to quality assurance principals and procedures. As training progresses you will become a skilled member of one of HFR’s manufacturing teams.
Requirements
Successful candidates would normally be qualified in a technical or scientific area which is relevant to the role. This may be through a formal educational /qualification route, e.g. a degree in chemistry or a related scientific discipline or via relevant experience and training obtained through practical application, or a combination of both.
Have some experience of gramme scale organic synthesis.
Experience of analytical techniques e.g. NMR, HPLC etc. would be considered advantageous but not essential.
Strong attention to detail and a desire to learn.
Team player.
A ‘can do’ attitude.
Flexible, adaptable and able to manage change.
The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK.
Place of work: Bowburn, Durham DH6 5PF.
Flexible hours of work: 37.5 hours per week 7.00am/9.00am – 3.00pm/5.00pm but this can change due to the demands of each project.

Benefits
Salary: £20,000 per annum
Holiday entitlement: 23 days plus 8 bank holidays with the option to buy back additional holidays after 1 years’ service
